### Step 1: Download and Install Oracle VM Virtualbox

First, download and install the latest version of Oracle VirtualBox from here.

Select 'VirtualBox for macOS Hosts' under 'Oracle VM VirtualBox'. Select a location to save it in. Once downloaded double-click on the .dmg file and follow the installation instructions as shown below:

### Step 2: Download Kali Linux OVA File

Once you have installed Virtualbox, download the latest version of Kali Linux from here.

Select 'Kali ISOs' under 'VirtualBox Images'. Select your desired architecture (32-bit or 64bit). In this guide, we will be using the 32 bit version. The downloaded file should look like below:

### Step 3: Import Kali Linux Virtual Machine in Virtualbox

Now that you have installed virtual box and download kali linux image let us see how to import it into a new virtual machine.

1. Open VirtualBox on your Mac.

2. Click 'File' > 'Import Appliance...' as shown below:

### Step 4: Import Kali Linux VM Process Starts

Once the import process starts, you will be prompted with this window like below:

The importing of the appliance file may take some time depending upon how fast is your internet connection and also on what kind of computer are you using.

### Step 5: Power On Virtual Machine and Finish Installation

After importing the Kali Linux virtual machine into Virtualbox, double click on it to start or power-on. This will bring up this window:

1. Select 'Use existing hard disk (or other)...' as shown below.

2. Click 'Next'.

3. If prompted with a warning message like below, select 'Yes' and then press 'OK'.

### Step 6: Set Up Kali Linux Network Settings

Now your kali linux virtual machine should be up and running. You can now set-up the network settings for it by clicking on this icon at the bottom right corner of the screen as shown below:

1. Select 'Eth0' from the list under 'Physical', then click 'Connect'. This will bring up a new window where you can enter your Ethernet details like IP address, gateway etc.

### Step 7: Change Kali Linux Password

After setting up the network settings for kali linux virtual machine it is always good practice to change its default password. To do this, open terminal in kali by pressing `Alt+Shift+C` or click on 'Applications' > 'Accessories' > 'Terminal'.

1. Type `sudo passwd root`

2. Enter a new password and then confirm it.

3. Reboot the virtual machine by running `reboot`

### Step 8: Update Kasi Linux Packages

Now that you have successfully installed kali linux in Virtualbox, let's update its packages using apt-get command as follows:

1. Open terminal in your kali linux virtual machine by pressing `Alt+Shift+C` or click on 'Applications' > 'Accessories' > 'Terminal'.

2. Update the package list with following commands:

- `sudo apt-get update`

3. Upgrade all installed packages to their latest versions using this command:

- `sudo apt-get dist-upgrade`

And that's it! You have successfully installed Kali Linux on Virtualbox Mac.

### Step 9: Accessing Kali Linux Desktop

To access the desktop of your kali linux virtual machine double click on its icon in 'VirtualBox VMs' folder inside your home directory. If you cannot find this folder, try searching for it using Spotlight (Windows + Spacebar) and type `VirtualBox`.
